Today in DRC Congo

As you already know, today was our embassy appointment in the Congo. The birth mom showed up and Andy spent a bit of time with her. He said that if she lived in the USA, she would be a model, 6' tall and beautiful. She was overjoyed that we are adopting her kids and wants the best for them. Andy was able to show her the book I made the kids and every time they looked at it, Vaughn knew everyone's name and said it out loud. Elouise didn't even recognize her birth mom, but Vaughn did and Andy said it didn't seem to phase him that she was there (in other words, it wasn't traumatic). They have been in the orphanage 7 months and this is the first time they have seen her.

There was a minor glitch with the interview that happened with her at the embassy that needs to be sorted out, so please pray for speed and accuracy. As Andy said to me today, God has worked so many miracles on our behalf through this, why wouldn't he work through this one? You can see the email I sent to our caseworker below for more details. 

Andy also said he spent a while with the kids today. It is so great to hear his stories of time with our kids! He said Elouise fell asleep on him and the rest of the time "she was laughing a little and a little grumpy and laughing and having fun a little, then a little grumpy." Oh dear. She sounds way too much like someone I already know...does this house have room for two people who alternately laugh and are grumpy? I guess we will find out.

We do need prayer, friends. We need this issue to be sorted out quickly and favorably! God can do it!

As soon as Andy gets home with the camera, I'll have lots of photos to post for you!

Hope you are well!

I was able to talk to Andy and found out about the meetings.

Long story very short :)

The birth mom did show up. Apparently the information she provided to the consulor was different from what was written on the form regarding the dad, but it seems like it is a minor discrepancy. Claude needs to get the corrected documents and possibly do a small investigation. (The mom said the dad was dead on the forms, but apparently, they are both living, but both basically unknown). 

Claude told Andy he would have the corrected documents back to the embassy by next Wednesday. Andy will confirm this tomorrow, but it seems as though, this is a minor bump. The consular said everything else was OK and the mom really confirmed her desire for us to adopt her kids. So that is a big relief. The consular said he has to do his job which is to make sure the paperwork is correct, but he didn't see fixing it to be a problem....

Andy said spending time with the mom was great. Winner didn't even recognize her and although Malco did it doesn't seem like it was emotional or stressing for the kids.

We're moving ahead with what we have and trusting Claude to make this right and keep us moving.
