Adoption Update

What is happening with our adoption?!?!

Well....we are close. So close in fact, that I can count on two hands the things that need to be completed in order for us to travel to get our kids.

Six things, people, six things are all that need to happen before we can go!!

The first three on my list are just documents we are waiting to be issued. CONA (Certificate of Non-Appeal which legalizes our adoption in Congo), Act of Adoption and Birth Certificates. Our "CONA date" was October 10. Which means that on October 10, if no one came back for the children, then there is a document issued saying the children are ours! We expect that we will wait 1-2 months from that date to actually see those documents. So worst case scenario- by December 10. We hope, though, that we have them much, much sooner.

Simultaneously happening during the wait for those documents is a passport. Once the passport is issued and we have the other documents, then we can make an embassy appointment. We need to have a medical done for the children before the embassy appointment, but that comes after the passports. So, there are some simultaneous things happening and some things that need another thing to happen before they can happen.

However, you slice it, we're close! We expect to travel either in December or January and of course, all hopes are on December.

Pray for us! For speedy documents, for readiness and for country staff in Congo and in US to be working hard!
